In June, citizens throughout Europe will vote to renew the European Parliament. Nevertheless, the journey to the ballot box faces potential disruption from disinformation campaigns facilitated by generative Artificial Intelligence (AI). Threats such as deepfakes and malicious political ad targeting have the potential to manipulate public opinion and unduly influence the electoral campaign.

How is Europe ensuring the integrity of the 2024 elections? Are existing laws enough to combat online and AI-generated disinformation effectively? Are our enforcement mechanisms sufficiently robust to meet this challenge? What roles do online platforms play in this context? How can citizens access fact-checked information and express a truly informed vote?

Come and join us in Brussels to discuss such questions! The roundtable will see the participation of a stellar line up of panelists representing various stakeholders in our democratic ecosystem. Each perspective will contribute to shed light on how we can collaboratively protect democracy in the face of AI-generated disinformation.
